EXECUTIVE BRIEF · October 6, 2026 · Product demonstration; bookings, coverage and payments are not active
CoveredRider
Confidence for every test ride.
Working brand for the EZRIDERDEMO revival; name/domain clearance pending.
A proposed rider benefit from The Riders Perspective. Prepared by Vince Denais for discussion with PSX Ascend AI (proposed partner; no agreement).
Problem
Many buyers never ride before they decide. For dealers, test rides mean manual screening, bike prep, liability questions and paperwork.
Solution
CoveredRider gives every test ride a set time, a clear price and a fixed sequence of checks — screening, mechanic inspection, agreements, payment and coverage — before the keys are handed over, with a full record afterward.
Roles
- The Riders Perspective: Reaches riders and offers CoveredRider as a rider benefit
- PSX Ascend AI: Proposed dealer channel; no agreement in place
- CoveredRider: Independent operator of the test-ride workflow and records
Pricing & economics (planning assumptions)
- $0.50/min; 30-min demo $15.00 = rider $7.50 + dealer $7.50. Rider cap $50.
- Assumed insurance $0.335/min (founder recollection, not a quote) → $10.05; contribution after insurance $4.95 (33%) — not net profit.
- Target ramp 5/10/15/20/30/40 dealers, 20 demos/dealer/month: month 6 $12,000 receipts, $3,960 after insurance.
- Ramp year 1: 7,200 demos, $108,000 receipts, $72,360 insurance, $35,640 after insurance. Steady 40-dealer run rate: $144,000 / $96,480 / $47,520.
- Illustrative stress test (not quotes): month 6 after variable $332, after $1,500 overhead -$1,168.
- Excluded: Failed or abandoned screens; Insurance premium minimums, deposits and rounding; Claims / deductible reserve; Legal and setup costs; Taxes; Unmodeled staff and founder pay; Unpaid prep time and late-return exposure.
Proposed pilot
Proposed for discussion: a pilot with 3–5 trained, eligible stores, running up to 60 days or 100 completed test rides in total, whichever comes first. Review the results before expanding toward the target of 40 active dealers by month 6 at 20 test rides per store per month.
Insurance structure under review
An underwriter suggested pairing the rider's own auto insurance for liability with a physical-damage policy for the demo motorcycle. This is under review, not adopted.
- Ask the carrier to confirm, per rider, whether that rider's policy applies to this exact non-owned motorcycle test ride.
- Do not assume an auto policy covers motorcycles, or that a waiver replaces liability coverage.
- Get written terms for: primary vs. excess liability; dealer and operator residual exposure; physical-damage limits, deductibles and theft; how coverage is verified; claims handling; and the fallback for riders whose policy doesn't qualify.
No savings or coverage are quoted. The economics keep the $0.335/min insurance planning assumption and the $0.50/min price ($0.25 rider + $0.25 dealer).
- Defined geography and bike classes (pending carrier)
- Named staff and mechanic at each pilot store
- Operating hours and support coverage
- Carrier / provider terms in writing
- Legal: consent, privacy, payment and IP terms
- Full rehearsal with sign-off
- Stop rule: halt on unclear coverage, screening, or an incident lockout
Metrics: Completion rate, Drop-off by step, Staff minutes per ride, All variable costs per ride, Contribution per ride, Follow-up completed. No conversion rates assumed.
